Gingersnap Creations Blog - a Tutorial on Faux Modelling Film

Over on Gingersnaps I have a tutorial today on making flowers and butterflies using packaging material. I hope you will like it:-

I'd already got everything ready for the tutorial before our crisis. Thank you for all the kind comments. Our house and contents are as severely flood damaged as it is possible to be, apparently, and it will be probably six months before we can return.

Gingersnap Creations Challenge - Babes and Tots

Gingersnap Creations challenge 'Babes and Tots' starts today. I covered a frame with tissue tape and coloured it with metallic rub ons and stamped the Dream word in red. I stamped the little girl from the Crafty Individuals' set (CI292)directly onto the Butterfly Garden paper by Pink Payslee. I coloured her with Pro Markers and white opaque pen. I stamped the words 'Cute as a Button' and added a Princess crown to her head. I added some childish charms, and a Charlotte doll made from a home-made mould. Finally I added butterflies which were tissue tape applied to thick card, then cut out and glued on with silicone glue under the wings.

Filter Paper Album - a Tutorial for Gingersnaps

I have been a little quiet on the crafting front as we stayed with my in-laws in the North East for Christmas, and then went to France for New Year. Since I got back last week, I have been making this project for Gingersnaps, which I have enjoyed SO much! As there are lots of sections to it, I was worried about taking over their blog too much, so I thought I would post some of the individual pages and tags here, mainly just with captions, with the step by step tutorial over on Gingersnaps. Hope that will all make sense!

The stamps I have used are Oxford Impressions Bonbon and Afternoon Tea sets, Art Journey Celebrate, and Crafty Individuals CI 277.

Here's the final album, which has individual tags in each of the filter paper 'pockets':-

Two little girls in their best dresses, being taken to the chocolate shop
A selection of tea and coffee advertisements stamped to look like a vintage newspaper
Chocolate related images. I used gold pen for the chocolate cases

The tea pot sits on a white crocheted coaster. The other images are on shrink plastic to be in scale in relation to the tea pot, on my imaginary tea table! The tiny beads create brown sugar.

The little girl from Art Journey 'Celebrate' was a perfect fit to sit on the cup and saucer, again on a crocheted coaster.
Cupid and hearts, with some tiny heart embellishments
Kept this simple to show the chocolate wording in the paper!

More tea and coffee advertisments. I divided the 'poster' image into two sections, separating the images from the words

A tag with a little girl in her party frock, on shrink. The words at the bottom are on shrink, and the awning is German Scrap, from Crafty Individuals

Chocolate related advertisements/logos
A romantic couple taking tea together. The words have been used to frame the image.

More tea advertisements

The poster image, whole this time. Tea definition on shrink, bottom right

Chocolate price list and chocolates. Paper cases coloured with gold pen

Haute Couture Canvas - Gingersnaps Challenge

I made this little canvas for the Gingersnap Creations Blogspot challenge for this week, which is Haute Couture. I thought this new Crafty Individuals stamp, depicting two elegantly dressed ladies with a vintage Millinery advertisement fitted the bill. I added their scroll stamp and some little flowers to the corners, and some Deko Ice from the Altered Element, which I coloured orange to match the rest of the project. I used a vintage rose coloured braid around the edge, letting it sit slightly above the edge so it framed the image from the front.

Gingersnap Creations Blog - Altered Spice Rack Tutorial

Over on Gingersnaps I have my second tutorial of my 'Muse' Month! I have altered a wooden spice rack to house all those lovely little inky bottles!

The stamps I have used are the Wildflower and the Crackle stamp sets CI226 and 116 from Crafty Individuals.

I do hope you will like it.

Gingersnap Creations Blog - September Muse

I have had some exciting news this week, and I am allowed to share it with you! Gingersnap Creations, which is a US Challenge Blog and associated Yahoo Group, have invited me to be their 'September Muse'! I am incredibly honoured, happy, and excited!

I joined the Yahoo Group a couple of months back, which I have been really enjoying. For the month of February, Jennie from the Artistic Stamper, sponsored a challenge where each member of the Gingersnap Creations Design Team, and Jennie's Design Team, made an item each week with the theme of Romance, using some gorgeous Twenties, and Heart stamps which had just come out. I just enjoyed this so much! The stamps are stunning and it was such a great thing to be a part of. I made a heart shaped tin with an album inside, a mobile 'phone charm and gift box, an altered CD box, and finally an accordion card to celebrate Gingersnaps' First Birthday.

Then something even more exciting. If you have looked at my blog before you will know I have a wonderful and talented friend called Lynne. Well, Lynne is currently their March Muse! You will enjoy having a look at what she has been doing, if you haven't already. So now, it means we have another lovely thing to share with each other! I will let you know more about what I will be doing when we get nearer to September - my mind is buzzing already!
