Leaf Stencil Card inspired by Keren Baker for Paper Artsy
So much inspiration on the Paper Artsy blog this week! I say that every week, but this week I really wanted to find the time to embark on all the projects. I wanted to make Lin's notebook and Alison's reversed canvas, in fact I started them both. I was so annoyed with myself as I have the gorgeous stamps Lin used but I have lost one of the flowers! I think maybe I have washed them in the sink and thrown it out with the kitchen towel I was drying them on. So frustrating. So I gave up on that one after a lengthy search. You may have noticed that searching for things is a common thread on my blog!
The main Guest Designer this week was Keren Baker and she seems such a delightful and fun person with a very varied style; I just love the way she experiments and gives things a go. As soon as I saw the watercoloured stencil effect on day 2 I wanted to try it, and made loads of backgrounds, following the same colour scheme with Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, and Dusty Concord. What did we do before Paper Artsy brought out stencils?! I hope they bring out some more designs. I used Lin's leaf stencil 006 and made a shrink plastic birdcage with Hot Picks 1004. I used one of my left over backgrounds to stamp the bird from Hot Picks 1007. I used the Distress Colours to colour some seam binding to tie on the bird cage. I made some rosettes using crunchy wax paper which was Keren's idea on the following day and dabbed a bit of Snowflake on them, followed by the Distress colours. Finally I matted it onto a piece of white cardstock which I coloured to match using Peacock Feathers.
I am entering this card into the Inspired by challenge for this week.

I hate it if you lose one stamp from a set, cos it's always the one you just want! Love this card, Lucy, the background looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteCombining Keren's ideas on this card works very well and the background is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI too search for things for hours on end for want of a spacier and organised craft room! Worse, I loose things I am actually working on...
Such beautiful colours, love how you have used a smaller leaf xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card Lucy. The background is delicately scrumptious, your rosette worked well, don't think that I could achieve that, sure mine would undo itself. The bird is gorgeous. Fab finished piece and carry on looking! Xx
ReplyDeleteGreat background and use of the technique which has resulted in a very pretty card.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday. hugs Brenda xx
Fabulous card Lucy, like how you have taken inspiration form all Keren's projects this month.

ReplyDeleteI love this, it's amazing what you can achieve with an ink pad and water x
ReplyDeleteThis is FAB! The combo of different days projects is inspired and I love the colours you've used. I love the size of your project- the constantly repeated stencil is really effective!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely card, fabulous design.xxx
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful watercolour stencilling in your background - it's gorgeous - and I love those rosettes. So sorry to hear about your lost stamp... I lost one of my AO ones which had only been inked once, but I suspect that one fell into the waste paper basket rather than getting washed down the sink. Sigh!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
